This Traditional Chinese medicine has been traditionally
used to release the wind-cold. It may help reduce the
severity of symptoms of colds and is often used for
headaches especially those associated with common cold. Symptoms & Signs:
Headache which may be unilateral, bilateral or vertical,
chills and fever, nasal congestion with no sweating. Traditionally used to release Wind Cold often referred to in the west as a common viral attack or flu.
It may reduce the severity and length of the illness and is often taken with green tea for the
headache associated with the common cold.
Uses:
Common cold with headache, tension headache, migraine,
neurogenic headache, rhinitis, sinusitis.
Directions:
Take 1-2 capsules twice per day with a cup of warm water.
Clinical Application:
Headache which may be unilateral, bilateral or vertical,

Remarks:
This formula is used not only to treat Headaches associated
with common cold but also many other types. It is usually
taken with an infusion of Green tea. The Green tea further
clears heat from the head and moderates the warming and
drying effects of several of the formulas ingredients. See
caution notes and headaches from other patterns should be
excluded first. This formula is famous for treating External Wind cold
attacks (Commonly Viral) and especially for the symptom
of headaches. It has been show to in classical form and
modified form to be beneficial for all headaches that
comply with the wind cold pattern diagnosis including
migraine and sinus related headaches.
Warnings:
With Qi & Blood deficiency, Kidney or Liver Yin
deficiency with hyperactivity of Yang.

nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety. Symptoms & Signs:
Menstrual Pain, Irregular or early period, intercostal pain,
abdominal distension, discomfort of chest and
hypochondrium aggravated by emotional upset poor
appetite, restlessness, mental depression, irritability,
belching, indigestion, breast distension or pain, constipation. Traditionally used to for a large variety of stress related disorders with an underlying pattern
of Qi & Xue (Blood) stagnation, including nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety.
Uses:
Menstrual Pain, Irregular or early period, intercostal pain,
abdominal distension, discomfort of chest and

Remarks:
For constraint of Liver Qi with clumping of Liver Qi usually
resulting in hypochondriac pain. Additional Comment:
This formula is very simple and effective. Because it only
has five ingredients it is often modified or added together
with another formula. Because of this it is formula can be
used in combination with other patent formulas to treat
diseases that have a component of Liver Qi stagnation,
emotional stagnation. It is most commonly used when
there is pain associated with the stagnation.
Warnings:
Cold & Heat patterns, severe Yin or Blood deficiency.
Chronic use of this formula may cause dryness.

weakness of lower back and knees. Spontaneous
sweating, cold extremities. Traditionally used to tonify the Kidney Yin & Yang, supporting normal sexual function and drive in both men and women. Can be used for any pattern.
Uses:
Low Libido, sexual hypofunction, impotence, fatigue,
edema frequent or nocturnal urination, pale
complexion, cold sensation in loins and back, pain and
weakness of lower back and knees. Spontaneous
sweating, cold extremities.
Directions:

Lower sexual ability due to aging, impotence, premature
ejaculation, chronic fatigue syndrome, threatened
miscarriage, infertility, hair loss, lowered immunity, general
